Creating a blog site

We will look at some resources that will enable even the least experienced computer users to create their own blog site. How to get a domain name, user friendly hosts, tools that will set up your files and more. With the free tools available today, even if your skill level caps out at sending emails, you can still set up and run your own blog site!

Read on, and we'll show you how to create a blog site quickly and easily. In fact, you could have a professional looking site up and running in less than an hour!

Creating a blog site

What do I need to know about creating a blog site?

So you want to create a blog site? Great!

There are many options when looking to create a blog site. There are a number of free blog sites out there. Blogger and Blogsome are two of the more popular sites. You can set up an account and be up and running in 20 minutes or less.

Although this may be the easisest route to go when creating a blog site, it is not the best. The benefits of creating a blog site in this manner used to be the ease of use. It takes little to no knowledge to set up a blog on either of these sites, but with the introduction of Wordpress, you can have a better solution, still with no computer skills needed!

By using a Wordpress blog, you can have your own domain. This is important as sites on the internet start to migrate from free to paid. If you own your domain, you are in control. Set up a blog on one of the free blogging platforms, however, and you are at their mercy. Should they choose to move to a paid platform, or shut down all together, there is not much you can do. Your work and efforts are tied up with these third party corporations.

Also, by using your own domain name, you are building a piece of internet real estate. Websites are essentially virtual real estate, and they are becoming increasingly more valuable. Should you want to monetize your blog site at some point in the future, control of the domain will be important.

In addition, by using the Wordpress platform, you have access to thousands of free templates and tools. This gives you many options that are not available on the free platforms.

With all of the updates, it is a very simple process to create your own blog site. With no experience or programming skills, you can create a professional looking site in about the same time it takes to set up a free account with blogger or blogsome.

We have a free tutorial that will step you through the entire process, complete with screen shots and easy to understand directions, you can take a look at this easy how to guide on creating a blog for complete instructions on everything you need to know when creating a blog site.

Once you have the information needed, you are ready to start blogging, good luck, it's truly easiser than you may think!

Designing Your Blog Site

Great designs for your blog - Free!

Once you have your blog site built, the next step is the design. One reason I really like Wordpress based sites is that you have access to all kinds of free goodies. Even better, with the way themes work you can give your site a new look without having to lift a finger. It's really simple to do.

In the admin screen under appearance you can select 'themes'. From there you can manage themes and install themes. Clicking on the install themes tab at the top of the screen will take you to a nifty little search page. From here you can enter your search parameters and browse through many different free themes. When you find one you like, installation is easy, just click the install button.

In addition, you can keep themes in your admin window, so if you have a few you like, you can keep them and change from one theme to another with almost no effort. It is a great feature of the Wordpress platform, and for beginners looking to create a professional looking web presence with little knowledge, it is very easy.
